You can never spend too much time travelling this world
I never ever thought I’d be in travel and tourism when I was growing up, yet I thoroughly enjoyed my 10 years at the adventure tour operator, Explore Worldwide. I started working there when I was 18, a month before 911, and I could never have dreamed the career I was about to embark on – and the passion for travel I was about to ignite! Although I spent most of my time managing, negotiating, costing and contracting the Africa product, by the end, I’d covered practically the complete travel portfolio from Asia to Europe to Australasia to the Middle East, finishing up with the Americas.
Since leaving there, I’ve continued my travels, whilst working part-time at the local village Post Office and later, managing it full time. I wanted to see more of the UK, Europe and the Americas – and have certainly achieved this dream. My latest trips have taken me all the way over to Borneo and then a little closer to home, the quiet side of the party island Zante, Greece. It's been incredible! So… 20 years later and 41 countries visited across 5 continents... and my need to jump on a plane and keep travellling to experience new things is as strong as ever. I now tailor make fabulous itineraries for clients from New York city breaks to Californian fly drives, African safaris to bespoke touring in Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Costa Rica or Burma, trekking, wildlife, natural wonders, discovery, exploration, travelling solo or with a small group, coach tours, train tours, iconic routes, flying around the world in 80 days - and then there's the honeymoons - Maldives, Mauritius and Reunion, Seychelles, Indonesia, Malaysia and those hidden gems amongst the Thai islands... The rules I live by are simple: Read widely. Travel far. Lose your inhibitions. Work hard. Challenge yourself. Where will your next adventure take you? Happy travels everyone! |
