So the trip comes to an end and it's time for the questionnaire. Our CEO emailed us the link but G Adventures also send out an automatic email. They give you a code for 5% off your next holiday after you've filled out the trip evaluation form.
Here's part of my evaluation talking about the YOLO "You Only Live Once" experience:
The whole YOLO concept spurs you on to try new things and be daring, which is really quite liberating. If someone wasn't sure about doing something, the rest of us would shout "YOLO". This trip was a fantastically balanced mix of adrenaline-fuelled activities, wildlife, socialising and chilling out and relaxing.
I did have the most amazing time. I've seen and done some things I never thought I'd see and do and experience. The YOLO vibe ignites an exhilaration, although not enough that I was ready to try white water rafting, waterfall jumping, rappelling or canyoneering! But that's ok because I still pushed and tested myself. There were the hanging bridges in the cloud forest...I hate moving platforms at height, trekking up an active volcano in hot, dusty, windy conditions and putting my faith in a piece of plywood to slide down one.
Another thing I liked was the flexibility of the itinerary. This was something completely different for me. Most of the group tours I've done have included everything apart from a few "optionals" here and there, which everybody in the group does anyway, so it still feels part of the itinerary. This style is good because you don't have to worry so much about budgeting. On a YOLO trip, you pick and choose what you want to do and sometimes those choices are spur of the moment things, which adds to the excitement and fun. Yes you have to budget carefully, but it's a very different kind of holiday, so you prepare accordingly ie. bring lots of dosh and then sit back and enjoy the ride. I don't mind either one. It's good to mix it up every now and then!
Blogging is an amazing concept so here I am giving it a whirl. You'll get words. You'll get pics. Sometimes a vid or two. You'll get tongue in cheek, the odd humble opinion and an honest insight into my travels and writing life. Maybe even a few gems along the way. I'll be musing on home turf as I see more and more of the UK and sharing my experiences further afield on holidays and adventurous trips across the globe.
